FAQ

Service-area questions, answered

>

What cities do you serve in coastal NC?

Eight cities across three counties: Hampstead and Topsail Beach (Pender County); Wilmington, Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach, and Figure Eight Island (New Hanover County); Surf City and Sneads Ferry (Onslow County, with Surf City split between Pender and Onslow). If you are between Sneads Ferry and Carolina Beach on the Intracoastal Waterway, we serve you.
>

Do you build docks on lakes and freshwater, or only saltwater?

Both. The Intracoastal Waterway is our home water, but we build on freshwater lakes, brackish creeks, and inland ponds throughout eastern North Carolina too. Lake docks let us skip the CAMA process entirely and often allow longer fixed piers and bigger boathouses. We adjust hardware spec for freshwater (hot-dipped galvanized inboard is fine when salt is not in play), but the structural build standard is the same — pilings driven to refusal, marine-grade framing, written warranty.
>

Do you charge a trip fee for site visits?

No. Site evaluations are free anywhere in our eight-city service area. The crew lives within ten miles of our Hampstead shop, so a site visit is a 30–45 minute drive at most.
>

Can you file CAMA permits in all three counties?

Yes. We file Coastal Area Management Act general permits in Pender, New Hanover, and Onslow counties in-house. We know the plan reviewers by name. CAMA general permits typically clear in 14–30 days; we manage the entire filing process from initial site survey through permit issuance.
>

Do you work on private/gated communities like Figure Eight Island?

Yes. We have built docks on Figure Eight Island, Olde Point (Hampstead), Landfall (Wilmington), and other gated or private-access communities throughout coastal NC. We carry the proof-of-insurance and license documentation most HOAs require, and we have worked with the property associations enough times to know their architectural review processes.
>

What if my property is just outside your service area?

Call us — we will tell you straight up whether we can still help. We have done work as far north as Swansboro, as far south as Brunswick County, and inland on freshwater lakes for repeat clients or unusual projects. Our pricing assumes a Hampstead-based mobilization, so beyond a 1-hour drive, mobilization costs start to add up — but the conversation is always free.
>

Do tide swings vary across your service area?

Yes — significantly. Wrightsville Beach sees about 2.5 ft of tide swing; Hampstead and Sneads Ferry see 3.5–4 ft. That changes how we spec your dock. Heavier framing on Pender County sites, longer pile guides for floating docks, deeper piling refusal targets. Every estimate accounts for your specific tide.
